US MPG vs Imperial MPG
The US gallon (3.785 liters) is smaller than the Imperial gallon (4.546 liters) used in the UK. This means the same car gets a higher Imperial MPG number. To convert: Imperial MPG = US MPG × 1.201
L/100km (Liters per 100 Kilometers)
Used throughout Europe, Australia, and most of the world. Lower is better — unlike MPG where higher is better. A typical efficient car uses 5–7 L/100km.
